What do we do here?

When I say We, I mean the royal we, actually it’s just me, Caroline Gilmartin, PhD, Fermentologist. You can find out more about me, and how I have ended up in this curious and fascinating occupation here if you like.

First there’s the shop where you can buy the microbial cultures for making milk kefir, water kefir and kombucha, fermentation book and vinegar book and gift vouchers

Then, there are the workshops, both in real true life and online. I will show you how to make all manner of fermented foods safely, with confidence.

Next, there’s the writing on fermentation and gut health-related issues and research which is published (free) on Substack in Every Thing Good ( you see what I did there?!)

Finally, why not give me a follow on Instagram, where I can regularly be found (I may be in my dressing gown) tending to my ferments in real time, demonstrating just how quick and easy it is to add them to your life.

You can Sign up to the Substack newsletter HERE!

Why listen to me? What do I know?

15 years of home and commercial fermentation on top of a PhD in microbial genetics in my distant past have given me a good insight – my modus operandi is to try and think like a microbe, which helps me to troubleshoot, and I love nothing more than problem solving.  As a member of the Guild of Foodwriters and on the advisory board of the Guild of Fermenters I should be able to explain what’s going on in the jar and why you might want to eat/drink it.

I am no super-guru, but it’s always good to have more than one perspective in the health arena which is a crazy place right now.

Why choose Every Good Thing for your cultures & fermentation adventures?

When you buy my cultures or books, you’re not just getting the item, you’re getting a connection with me. I will help you at every stage of the process, and in fact I spend a lots of time helping people who haven’t bought anything from me at all!.

You can “Buy me a Coffee” if you’d like to show your appreciation!
